Thanksgiving weekend brings holiday events

There are a number of holiday-themed events happening this weekend, highlighted by the Grand Marais Christmas Parade. The “Oh Ole Night” parade is Friday, November 24th, at 5:30 p.m. If you want to take part in the parade, line up in the Senior Center parking lot in downtown Grand Marais at 5 p.m.

Tree lighting, carols, and fireworks in Harbor Park follow the parade.

There are also a number of events on Saturday, November 25.

In Lutsen, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, the community is invited to take part in "Light Up Lutsen." Murray the Moose will be in attendance throughout the day. Lockport General Store offers photos with Santa from 1 to 3 p.m. Last Chance Gallery and Studio has a "Pour at 4" event and carolers and tree lighting at 5 p.m. And there's a tree lighting at Clearview at 6 p.m.

In Grand Marais, there is the Annual Holiday and Craft Sale Open House at the Cook County Community Center on Saturday, November 25th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local vendors and crafters offer a variety of products, baked goods, handmade wearables, and more. The Girl Scouts will host a poinsettia sale, and lunch is provided by Alyce's from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
And on the east end of the county, the Hovland Arts Festival pre-Christmas sale is Saturday, November 25th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hovland Town hall. Featured items include photography, wood working, pottery, jewelry, and much more.
