Hunters will take to the woods in Cook County Saturday morning (Nov. 9) for the opening of Minnesota’s firearms deer season.

Nearly 500,000 hunters are expected to participate in this year's season.

The weekend forecast is calling for snow Friday night and Saturday for parts of Cook County, including near Lake Superior. Click here for the current conditions and weekend forecast.

Ahead of this year’s opener, WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Communications Coordinator Joe Albert to hear some safety and general reminders before the firearms deer season begins.
