Santa's Workshop

Cook County Girl Scouts invite kids of all ages to Santa’s Workshop, Saturday, December 7 from 8 am to 2 pm at the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais. Festivities start with a pancake breakfast, bake sale and kid’s play corner at 8 am.  Shopping starts at 9 am with Scout elves assisting little shoppers in choosing and wrapping presents with which to surprise their family. Northwoods Fiber Guild Open House and Holiday Sale

Northwoods Fiber Guild hosts an Open House and Holiday Sale on Saturday, December 7 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Grand Marais Art Colony.  There will be treats as well as knitting, spinning, and weaving demos throughout the day.

Poetry reading and sharing in honor of Ralph Latham

An informal poetry reading and sharing will be held in honor of Ralph Latham on Sunday, December 8th at 2 pm at Drury Lane Books in Grand Marais. A long-time resident of Grand Marais, Ralph passed away in November. The community is invited to attend and share a story, something Ralph wrote, or a beloved piece of writing he introduced to you. AEOA job-search assistance for senior adults

Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA) is offering a program that provides low-income senior adults job-search assistance and temporary employment. This federal program helps Cook County residents, aged 55 and over, rejoin the workforce by working in their community while receiving on-the-job training. Ice Fishing Rod Building

Tettegouche State Park offers an Ice Fishing Rod Building workshop on Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15 from 9 am to 4 pm.  Although it is a two-day workshop, rods should be finished in one day, allowing a night to allow the finishing epoxy to completely cure.  Preregistration required by December 9 and can be done by calling Tettegouche State Park at (218)-353-8802.

Social Drop-in Group

There are regular meetings of AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA in Cook County and you can find a complete schedule of those meetings on our website, under the Ongoing Events menu.

Every Monday, in Grand Marais, there's a CoDependents Anonymous meeting at 5:30 p.m. and an Al-Anon meeting at 7 p.m., both

at the First Congregational Church; and at 7 p.m. there's an AA Open Meeting at the Senior Center.

Ruby's Pantry

Ruby’s Pantry holds food distributions on the second Tuesday of the month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Cook County High School. Participants must bring containers to receive food. All are welcome.
