Minnesota sent three fire crews to New Mexico to help battle wildfires this week. The crews have 20 members each. Minnesota also sent 14 crew-carrier trucks.
Bob Carter of The Roadhouse spoke with Maeri Hedstrom by phone June 10 from the opening reception of "A Family Affair," an art exhibit featuring Maeri's work as well as that of her parents, Howard and Bonnie Gay Hedstrom. Art in a wide variety of media, from film to oils to turned wood and more, are on display at the Johnson Heritage Post in Grand Marais through June 26.
A team of eight will go into the BWCAW on Thursday to set up a temporary camp in an attempt to recover the body of Ty Sitter from Swan Lake. Sitter was reported missing on June 10 while fishing.
The Outdoor Classroom is an informational program developed by Harbor Friends. The organization is now dormant and they wanted the Grand Marais Rec Park to pick up the program.
