AEOA reopens job skills office in Grand Marais

This winter the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency continues to offer bus rides around the county as well as energy and weatherization assistance. It has also recently re-opened its adult education and job skills office in Grand Marais with Dawn Byholm as employment counselor and adult basic education instructor. WTIP’s Jay Andersen interviewed Dawn.

The Nylons

The Nylons brought the house down at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts on Sunday with a 2.5. hour high-energy concert. This was the last stop in their 2009 tour, and they seemed to enjoy performing for "Grand Maraisians" as much as we loved the show.

Sawtooth snack success noticed

Sawtooth Elementary and Cook County Schools Health Council were highlighted with a “success story” in a recent report to the Minnesota Department of Health.  The December report is an update on the status of the State Health Improvement Program (SHIP) grant in Northeast Minnesota.

The White House announced that $182 million in stimulus funds from the federal government designated for broadband internet were dispensed on Thursday, Dec. 17. Vice President Joe Biden made the announcement in the rural town of Dawsonville, Ga.

Recently, he read a story in the Duluth News-Tribune about Tim Kedrowski whose trail camera photographed an unusual seven-foot-tall creature near Remer. The Northern Minnesota Bigfoot Research Team verified it as a "Bigfoot." That reminded D.R.

The Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP), a citizens group whose stated mission is to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy on a local level, has a new project.  The organization wants to promote ride and delivery sharing in Cook County.
