WTIP exceeds membership drive goal!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make WTIP's "Come On In" membership the best membership drive ever.  In one week from July 9-16, WTIP welcomed 86 brand new members and 219 renewing members! Altogether, we heard from 305 people and raised a total of $26,144. Thank you to WTIP's dedicated and supportive community of listeners! Thanks also to all our wonderful volunteers, both on and off the air, and the businesses and individuals who donated food and other items. It was through this amazing effort and support that WTIP was able to successfully reach our goal. Thank you!

The Civilian Conservation Corps or CCC began in the spring of 1933. It was started by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in response to the stock market crash of 1929 and the onset of the Great Depression. Cook County became home to many CCC camps. The projects undertaken by the corps are still visible today. In this ongoing series WTIP explores the legacy and story of the CCC in Cook County.
