The last week end in April saw many dozens of responders in Grand Marais for the 24th annual county Emergency Services Conference. The conference brought together firefighters, EMTs law enforcement, first responders and the general public…all for training and greater awareness of community preparedness.

This past April has seen its share of disasters, accidents, explosions, terrorism -- and it has not been confined just to large cities. Whether it’s shootings in public places, a highway bus accident, wildfire or floods, community professionals and trained volunteers take the lead in responding to the emergency and dealing with the aftermath

Six participants in this year’s Emergency Services Conference will discuss their roles in training, advising, planning and preparing for any emergency in Cook County.
