Upcoming classes and events at the Grand Marais Art Colony

The Grand Marais Art Colony offers exhibits, events, activities and classes in a variety of media and for adults and kids. Classes are held from 9 am to 4 pm unless otherwise noted.

"Paint-a-Bowl" will take place on Saturday, November 1, between 10 am and 2 pm, to glaze the pottery bowls made during the "Make-a-Bowl" sessions. No pre-registration is required. Bowls will be used at the Empty Bowls food shelf fundraiser on November 13.

Life Drawing: Artists in all media are welcome to attend the 10-week life drawing sessions offered on Wednesdays through December 10, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm (no class November 26). No instruction is included. The sessions are open to all 18 and older, or younger artists with parental permission.

"Playwriting," with Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux, 3 Tuesdays, November 4 - 18, 4 - 6pm.

"Hand-building: Youth Clay," with John Franz, 3 Mondays, December 1, 8 & 15, 4-5:30 pm.

"Fuse it Up with Glass," with Nancy Seaton, Friday, December 5, 9 am - 2 pm.

"Interior Landscapes: Cultivating Creative Resilience," with Kelly O. Finnerty, 2 days,  October 25-26.

"Pots for Presents," with Joan Farnam, 8 Tuesdays, October 28 - December 16, 6-8 pm.
 
"Print & Stitch," with Julie Crabtree, Saturday-Sunday, November 1 - 2. 

"Mat Your Art," with Neil Sherman, Tuesday, November 4, 6-9 pm.
 
"Holiday Ornaments," with Nancy Seaton, Saturday, November 22, 9 am - 4 pm.
 
"Pet Portraiture," with Anna Hess, 5 Thursdays,  January 8 - February 5, 6 - 8 pm.
 
"Still Life in Oil," with Neil Sherman, Saturday-Sunday, January 10-11.
 
"The Colors of Winter," with Catherine Hearding, 5 days, Monday-Friday, January 26 - 30.
