Sun, 09/28/2014 (All day) - Sun, 10/26/2014 (All day)

The Grand Marais Art Colony offers exhibits, events, activities and classes in a variety of media and for adults and kids. Classes are held from 9 am to 4 pm unless otherwise noted.

Exhibit: The art created by 60 artists who participated in the Art Colony's just-completed Plein Air Competition will be on display at Johnson Heritage Post in Grand Marais through September 28, from 10 am to 4 pm.
Tour d'Art: The Legacy - Art Colony Home & Studio Tour: The annual Art Colony fundraiser will be an exclusive home tour, reception, and exhibit. The tour at noon on October 4 will provide a rare opportunity to view the homes, studios and art collections of some of the North Shore’s most prestigious artists, all of whom played a role in developing the first art colony in the state of Minnesota. Included on the tour are the homes of Dan & Linda Quick (formerly owned by Art Colony founder Birney Quick), Byron & Emma Bradley, Hazel Belvo & Marcia Casey Cushmore, Sharon & Steve Frykman, and Liz Sivertson. Limited tickets are available and can be reserved in advance at 387-2737 or events@grandmaraisartcolony.org. The exhibit will be open to the public October 5-26.

Make-a-Bowl sessions: All are invited to "Make-a-Bowl" at the Art Colony clay studio. Bowls will be offered to attendees at the annual Empty Bowls food shelf fundraiser on November 13. One-hour bowl-making sessions are Sundays at 2 pm and Mondays at 7 pm through October 13. Pre-registration is required.

"Paint-a-Bowl" will take place on Saturday, November 1, between 10 am and 2 pm, to glaze the bowls made during the "Make-a-Bowl" sessions. No pre-registration is required.

Life Drawing: Artists in all media are welcome to attend the 10-week life drawing sessions offered on Wednesdays, October 1 - December 10, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm (no class November 26). No instruction is included. The sessions are open to all 18 and older, or younger artists with parental permission.
