As of this Monday, Nov. 8, all traffic lanes and ramps in the Duluth I-35 Mega Project have re-opened. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, shoulder closures may continue to occur as minor clean-up work is completed.

The Mega Project is scheduled to resume in April of next year. When it does, drivers can expect bridges at the paper mill and ore docks to be replaced as well as projects around the so-called “Can of  Worms” overpasses.  Pavement will be replaced from 46th Ave. W to the “Can of Worms” interchange and those bridges will also be re-painted.

MnDOT expects lane closures on I-35 and traffic diverted to the northbound lanes from Central Ave. to Garfield Ave. during the entire April to November construction season. Ramp closures will also be in effect from Central to Garfield Avenues.

MnDOT has a Mega Project page on their website, and for more detailed project information, call 218-725-2708.
