John began volunteering for WTIP in 2009, and comes by weekly to take our cardboard, paper, cans and bottles to the Recycle Center.  He can be seen around Grand Marais with his trusty sidekick Rustii (whose name means "to bond" in Klingon), who not only fetches a ball, but throws it back as well!  A local artist, he has his own rock-carving business, Moostone, which keeps him busy at the weekly farmer's market.  In his spare time, John enjoys photography and stamp-collecting.   A favorite quote of his is:  "Dogs look up to you.  Cats look down on you.  Pigs treat you like equals."
