Cook County Higher Education in Grand Marais is hosting a variety of classes and events in coming weeks. All are at the Higher Ed North Shore Campus at 3rd Street and 3d Avenue in Grand Marais unless otherwise noted:

A "WordPress User Group" meets on Mondays from 5 to 7 PM. The group is open to everyone who uses WordPress web design. Familiarity with WordPress is a must; this is not a training program for beginners. Amber Pratt and Hayley Brendalen of Northern Wilds Media serve as group coordinators.

"What will the summer bring in terms of weather?" is the subject of a guest lecture on Thursday, May 23, at 7 PM. Carol Christenson, Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service, will be the speaker. A social hour with refreshments will follow the event.

"Social Media -- Like it or Not" is the topic of the May Business Networking Luncheon, from 11:30 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, May 29, at the Birch Terrace in Grand Marais. Two experienced social media marketers, Sally Nankivell of the Cook County Visitors Bureau and Mike Prom of Voyageur Canoe Outfitters, will explain how their approaches and share tips for success. Registration is requested.

Anyone interested in becoming a Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide is asked to contact Higher Ed about the upcoming course offered in conjunction with Lake Superior College and taught by Mark Abrahamson. Financial aid, including loans and scholarships, is available. The course will be taught at the North Shore Campus and at the North Shore Care Center.

Registration and more information about these classes and events are available from Cook County Higher Ed at 387-3411 or highered@northshorecampus.org.
