Deb Benedict has been WTIP’s executive director since 2001. Under her leadership, the station has grown to over 800 members and now numbers over 70 on-air volunteers and eight staff. All this growth lead Deb to pursue the purchase of a new home for the station, nearly tripling the size of its previous space. Since settling in the new building in 2008, the station has taken complete control of its airwaves, broadcasting around the clock 7 days a week right from the WTIP studios. In 2009 Deb was elected president of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters board, bringing her community driven vision and leadership skills to the national organization. In her spare time, Deb plays tennis, hikes, kayaks and enjoys her cabin adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness near the Canadian border. Contact Deb:
Roger Linehan joined WTIP in the fall of 2007 as the program director. He’s a Marshalltown, Iowa native and a 1972 graduate of the University of Iowa. Prior to coming on board at the station, he worked as a newspaper editor in Iowa and Minnesota, spent time in England, obtained a masters degree in psychology, and worked for 20 years in the mental health field. Roger and his wife Maxene live off the grid in Hovland, and frequently host Thirsty Boots, WTIP’s Thursday night folk program, as “Radio Free Hovland.”
Contact Roger:
Cathy Quinn has been working and volunteering at WTIP since the station went on the air in 1998. She started off hosting the AM Community Calendar and has worn many hats at the station since then.  Currently she's the music director and host of the station's weekday eclectic music show Sidetracks. When she's not on staff in the summer she can be found paddling around the BWCAW as a wilderness ranger.
Contact Cathy:
Melanie became WTIP’s development director in March of 2007 when she moved to Grand Marais from a small island off the West Coast. She focuses on underwriting, membership and foundation relationships and can be seen around the station extending smiles to visitors and volunteers, as well as enforcing the station’s environmental policy.  Melanie enjoys hiking the trails with her daughter, gardening, and writing by the Big Lake.

Jana started at WTIP in November of 2007 as the Development Assistant.  Since then she’s morphed into the Office Administrator (as Deb likes to say…), and continues to amaze some of her co-workers with her knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, and her ability to create last-minute Goal-o-meters!  If she can find the time to train, she dreams of someday hosting Thirsty Boots or Saturday Night Mix, but for now can be heard on rare occasions reading PSA’s on the AM Community Calendar. A native of Iowa, Jana moved to Grand Marais in the summer of 2007 on account of her husband’s ‘wild and adventurous spirit’.  Together they have three children, and are thoroughly enjoying this dynamic community and unbelievable surrounding nature.  Contact Jana:
Barbara Jean joined WTIP as the News and Public affairs director in November of 2006. Her passion for radio took hold at a young age, when she made her first radio documentary as a high school class project using a tape recorder with bad sound! After that she was hooked, and went on to study community radio journalism at the University of Minnesota, where she got her bachelors degree. With the launch of this website, Barbara Jean has added web content management to her list of duties and priorities at WTIP. When she’s not running to catch the next town hall meeting, Barbara Jean can be found sewing her own clothes, drinking tea with her nose in a book, hiking with her partner and their dog, Zora, and endeavoring to be in the moment! Contact Barbara Jean:
