Acoustic Grooves

Acoustic Grooves is a benefit to help raise money for a new shelter for the Cook County Arrowhead Animal Rescue, on Sunday, October 29th, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. Tickets are available online at arrowhead center for the arts dot tix dot com or at the door at 1 p.m. The Master of Ceremonies is Tyler Howell; and performers are Michael Monroe, Joe Paulik, and the Hot Jazz Duo: Briand Morrison and Sam Miltitch. Halloween Carnival

The annual Birch Grove Community School Halloween Carnival is Sunday, October 29th from 2 to 4 p.m. Families are invited to enjoy kids’ games, cookie decorating, bingo, food, prizes, and more. Costumes encouraged.

Beginning Swedish Language

Cook County Higher Education is offering a class in Beginning Swedish Language, focusing on immersion and conversation, with instructor Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux. The last one will be a Swedish baking class. The four sessions are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the North Shore Campus on Wednesdays, November 1st, 8th, 15th, and 29th. Ages 12 and up are welcome with a parent. Details at 387-3411. 
 

9th Annual “Light up a Life”

The 9th Annual “Light up a Life” offers community members the opportunity to celebrate the life of a loved one during the holiday season. Each donation lights one bulb in memory of one person on our memory tree. The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at the Johnson Heritage Post on Thursday, December 7th, at 5:30 p.m. More information from Kay at 387-3788.
