Cook, Lake, and northern St. Louis counties
Sun, 04/30/2017 (All day)
Spring burning restrictions go into effect Monday, April 24 for Cook, Lake, and northern St. Louis counties. During spring restrictions, the state will not give out burning permits for brush or yard waste, and residents may need to find alternatives to burning, especially during April and May. The restrictions usually last from four to six weeks until sufficient green growth occurs. Burning restrictions do not apply to campfires, although campers are encouraged to watch them continuously and ensure ashes are cold to the touch before leaving.
