Cook County AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA Weekend Meetings, March 25th and 26th

There are regular meetings of AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA in Cook County.

Saturdays, there's an AA Open Meeting at 7 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland.

Sundays, there's an AA Big Book Study Group at 6:30 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.

The Grand Marais Public Library hosts members of the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra Thursday, March 30th at noon. Janell Lemire will play harp and Betty Braunstein, the flute. They are exploring the possibility of bringing a bus to the Twin Ports for their May 6th concert and are seeking input as to how that might happen.

WTIP Board of Directors Open Meeting

WTIP will hold its monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Thursday, March 30th at 4 pm at WTIP, located at 1712 West Highway 61 in Grand Marais. The Community Advisory board meets annually. The public is invited to attend these meetings. For more information, contact Deb, at 218-387-1070.

Great Place Project

The Great Place Project is a partnership between the Cook County Chamber and Sawtooth Mountain Clinic's Moving Matters program. The project provides small grants to individuals, businesses and organizations to develop small outdoor projects that enhance the beauty and attraction of the outdoor built environment of Cook County. This year’s grant application deadline is March 31. Applications can be downloaded at cookcountychamber.org and at becausemovingmatters.org. Print copies are also available from the Chamber office in City Hall.

Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide Course

Grand Marais Cub Scout Pack #167 is holding their Pinewood Derby Saturday, April 1st at St. John’s Catholic Church basement. Preregistration and weigh-in session is Friday, March 31st from 6 to 7 pm, the main event is Saturday, with registration at 10 am. Volunteers are needed to assist with the races and lunch. Spring Runoff Variety Show

Friends of the Finland Community and Thrivent Financial host the Spring Runoff Variety Show Saturday, April 1st, at the Finland Community Center Main Stage. Dinner is 6 pm and the show is at 7 pm. Tickets for dinner and the show must be purchased in advance, but show tickets only are available at the door. Proceeds help fund the Finland Community Orchard. Create a Healthy Yard & Garden for Pollinators and You

Cook County Extension and the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners present a class on how to Create a Healthy Yard & Garden for Pollinators and You, Monday, April 3rd, from 6:30 to 8 pm, at the Cook County Community Center. Instructors Max Linehan and Janet Ditmanson will teach about attracting bees, butterflies, and others; providing habitat, growing native flowers, and more. Participants will plant a “little greenhouse” to take home. Registration and more information are available at 387-3015.
