Cook County AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA Meetings, Monday, November 20th

There are regular meetings of AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA in Cook County.

On Mondays in Grand Marais, there's a CoDependents Anonymous meeting at 5:30 p.m. and an Al-Anon meeting at 7 p.m., both at the First Congregational Church; and at 7 p.m. there's an AA Open Meeting at the Senior Center.

Brown Bag Lunch... CELEBRATING WOMEN’S JOURNEYS

The Violence Prevention Center is hosting a Brown Bag Lunch... CELEBRATING WOMEN’S JOURNEYS, on Tuesday, November 21st, from noon to 1p.m. at the North House Folk School Blue Building. Special guest speaker is Geraldine Kozlowski: Grandmother, Leader, Mentor “Living Life Well.” You’re invited to pack a lunch, call a friend, and enjoy an hour of sharing. Coffee and dessert provided. Tofte Senior lunch November 22

44th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner

The First Congregational Church is hosting the 44th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 23rd, from 1 to 2 p.m. There is no charge for this traditional meal served family style in the downstairs Social Hall. Information about home-delivery, take-out meals, and rides to the dinner is available at 387-2113. The church is located on the corner of Third Avenue West and Second Street in Grand Marais. 
 

Book signing event

North Shore Winery is hosting a book signing event on Friday, November 24th from 1 to 3 p.m. The book, “Seven Ways to Trick a Troll,” was written by Lise Lunge Larsen, of Duluth; and illustrated by Kari Vick, of Lutsen. They will be onsite at the winery selling and signing the book. In addition, Kari will be selling original paintings from the book, prints, and greeting cards. Annual Holiday and Craft Sale Open House

The Annual Holiday and Craft Sale Open House at the Cook County Community Center is Saturday, November 25th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local vendors and crafters offer a variety of products, baked goods, handmade wearables, and more. The Girl Scouts will host a poinsettia sale, and lunch is provided by Alyce's from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

 

Volunteers are needed to perform chore services

Care Partners of Cook County sponsors the Senior Chore Program that provides assistance with short-term tasks for those 60 and over. Volunteers are needed to perform these services. There are a variety of inside and outside chores available, and volunteers can select their choices, and be reimbursed for mileage. More information is available at 387-3788.
 

Certified energy audit funding

The Cook County Local Energy Project is working with the Opp Hvidston (VID-ston) Foundation to provide two homes or businesses in the east end of Cook County with full funding to complete certified energy audits and partial funding for making energy improvements.
