Cook County AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA Meetings, Wednesday, April 26th

There are regular meetings of AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA in Cook County.

Wednesdays in Lutsen, there is an Al-Anon Family Support group meeting at the Lutsen Town Hall at 7 pm.

Call for musicians: 10th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival

A reminder to musicians interested in performing at the 10th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival that the deadline to submit an application is May 1. The online application can be found on our website, www.wtip.org, just look for the "Radio Waves Application" button at the bottom of the home page. And more information is available by contacting Matthew at 218-387-1070.

Call for artists: 10th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival logo design

In celebration of the 10th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival - scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day - WTIP invites our "community of artists" to submit a design to be considered for this year's event. The submission deadline is Friday, May 12, with the  winning design to be determined mid-June and used for event marketing and t-shirts. More information is available by contacting Jana at 218-387-1070, or email jana@wtip.org.

 

Cook County Senior Center Lunch Wednesday, April 26th

The Cook County Senior Center in Grand Marais serves lunch every weekday at noon. Today's meal is baked bean casserole, fruit, dinner roll, and milk. Reservations must be made by 9:30 this morning at 387-2660.

 

Skywarn training

The National Weather Service hosts a Skywarn training at the Silver Bay Veterans’ Home Wednesday, April 26, from 6 to 8 pm. The training teaches participants to spot dangerous weather by reading storm clouds. There is no charge for the training and it is open to the public. Senior Linkage Line Medicare presentation and individual counseling

The Cook County Senior Center presents a Senior Linkage Line Medicare presentation and individual counseling Thursday, April 27th. Steve Deschene and Marjori Bottila (BAH-tala) will present “New to Medicare” from 10 am to noon. The presentation will help attendees understand what is new in Medicare and what the changes are for 2017. Individual counseling appointments are available from 8 to 9:30 am and 12:30 to 4 pm. Tell-a-Story Day

Voyageur Brewing Company celebrates Tell-a-Story Day Thursday, April 27, from 7 to 9 pm. Everyone is invited to tell a story: long or short, funny or scary, from a book or from your imagination. Disney’s The Lion King Jr

Arboreal Writing Contest

Drury Lane Books is holding an Arboreal Writing Contest open to all ages. Participants are asked to submit a 300 word tree-inspired story, fiction or non-fiction. 28th Annual Cook County Emergency Services Conference

The 28th Annual Cook County Emergency Services Conference in Grand Marais is Saturday, April 29. Anyone with an interest in becoming involved in our local Search & Rescue, First Responder organizations, or Fire Departments, or who just wants to role play for the day to help our emergency services train, is encouraged to participate.
